Frequent Questions

Why does Jawnt partner with transit agencies?

Jawnt is a benefits administrator that’s entirely focused on commuter benefits. We work with employers to design benefits that will maximize transit ridership, reduce parking demand, and boost rider satisfaction. We do everything we can to lower obstacles to riding transit, from reducing card number validation errors to co-creating Transportation Demand Management programs with employers. We want to help grow ridership and speed transit recovery.

Who pays for Jawnt?

Though Jawnt’s mission is aligned with that of our transit agency partners, our customers are actually the employers and organizations that want to get their employees and members riding. We charge employers to administer their transit benefits. If hired by the transit agency, we are also available to enhance their administrative capacity for their benefit programs.

How can my agency support employer transit benefits with open loop payment technology?

No US transit agency has offered employer transit benefits through open loop, yet. Solving this problem requires close collaboration between the transit fare technology vendor and a third party benefits administrator. Jawnt is a unique benefits administrator, in that we’re entirely focused on offering the best transit benefits, and we’re working hard to deliver the first-ever solution to this challenge.
