Go Birds: Jawnt Jaunt Fall 2025

Scenes from Jawnt's semiannual team offsite in Philly.

Jawnt Team
October 23, 2025

Last week, the Jawnt team gathered together in-person for our semiannual offsite, a company retreat of sorts we’ve dubbed the “Jawnt Jaunt”. As we’re spread across three offices now, it was a chance for many of us to meet face-to-face for the first time, for new folks to get acquainted with the Philly office, and for everyone to come together and align on where we’re headed in the next year.

We prioritize in-person collaboration in each office, and when we’re not together IRL, we have a strong culture of transparency across Slack and regular communication by video chat. Even though these open lines of communication help us work across time zones, there’s nothing better than getting together in the same place.

For this Jawnt Jaunt, the team came together in our home base of Philadelphia, making it an especially fitting time to reflect on our roots and where we’re going next. We spent a full day aligning on goals and planning for 2026, and another full day exploring Philly and meeting with other cool folks working on important civic projects. In between, we co-worked at our Philly headquarters, crafted together in a basement art studio, and of course rode plenty of public transit.

Here’s a glimpse into our fall 2025 Jawnt Jaunt in stories and snapshots.

The value of working IRL

The team at Jawnt is spread across three offices:

  • Philadelphia: Customer Success, Operations, Community
  • New York: Engineering
  • San Francisco: Sales, Finance, Marketing

After converging in Philly on Tuesday and bonding over crafts and ghost stories (more on that later), we were ready for a day of planning and collaboration.

It’s not often that every single person at a company gets to sit down together and tackle big questions like “Where should we be focusing our efforts?” and “Why have we all chosen to work here?”

These are daunting questions, but seated around a table (prepared with Federal Donuts, cozy crewneck sweaters, and freshly sharpened Blackwing pencils), we chipped away at barriers and talked through our challenges together, coming away with a clearer picture of what Jawnt will look like in 2026.

Jawnt Jaunt is equal parts work and play. We recognize the importance of working collaboratively while everyone’s in the same room, but also know it’s just as important to switch gears and get to know each other.

A healthy dose of competition

Everyone loves a bit of friendly competition. For our day of fun, Customer Success extraordinaire Sophie created hyper-local bingo cards and sent four teams on a quest to cross off as many Philly-themed bingo squares as they could.

We won’t bother with who won (after all, isn’t the real reward the transit we took along the way?), but let’s just say the recap session included some great stories:

  • Abbie, Andrew, Nikki, and Sophie making friends on the bus, one of whom was happy to show off his SEPTA Key card for the bingo board
  • Leo charming three visiting Winnipeg Jets hockey players in the elevator to the top floor of the Four Seasons
  • Learning that Liam and their wife own 3,000 books in their apartment!

A big shout-out to our Philly team for putting together a fantastic day of events, and for helping us out-of-towners eat, ride, and jawnt like real Philadelphians. 🔔🦅🥨

Connecting with our community

Progress isn't made in a bubble. We firmly believe that our best work is done when we can get out in the streets and understand the needs of people moving around our cities. We bring that same curiosity to our downtime, taking every opportunity to experience local flavors and stories when we can.

A few ways we did this in our week-long offsite:

  • As a way of settling in on Tuesday evening, we took up residence at Craft Coven in Old City, enjoying a chill team dinner and craft night hosted by local artist Cassie Jones. Not only did we get to see each other’s creative sides, we got to learn about Jones’ work and her ties to the Philly art community.

  • On Wednesday morning, Luc, Nikki, and Ruth joined up with Leo for Center City Sunrise, a collaborative weekly event hosted by Center City District designed to engage commuters on their way to work.

  • On Thursday afternoon, we joined Compiler and Jarvus for a happy hour to learn about the impactful civic tech projects they’re working on in LA, the Bay Area, and beyond.

  • Friday morning, Jeff, Will, and Ruth helped celebrate the launch of the Richards Transportation Initiative at Penn (R-TRIP), founded by Jawnt’s Senior Transit Advisor Leslie Richards. The new hub brings together scholars, students, public agencies, and private partners to address today’s complex mobility challenges.

Having our October ‘25 Jawnt Jaunt in Philly made this an especially community-oriented week. It was a chance for our Philly locals to show off their favorite parts of the city, and for out-of-towners to explore the place where it all started.

What’s next

Now that we’re all back in our respective cities, we’re getting to work on our Q4 projects and continuing the conversations we started in person. There’s a lot of great work to do in the coming months, and the past week gave us the momentum and the map we needed to get it done.
